What to do in Dallas

Oak Cliff / Bishop Arts District
(where the venue is located)
Wahoooo! Come check out our neighborhood. This walkable little area has a slew of adorable cafes, cocktail bars, and boutiques. When it comes to nightlife, Bishop Arts is a little more low-key than the previous areas on the list, which makes it the perfect spot to take things easy.

East Dallas / Lower Greenville
Ideal for a weekend day or nightlife
A lively little strip in East Dallas. Lower Greenville has a little bit of everything: beer gardens, cozy pub-style brunch spots, Instagram-worthy coffeeshops, and adorable craftsman homes. If you're looking to soak in a bit of the outdoors on your last day in Dallas, there's a popular lake and arboretum a 5-10 minute drive east.

Downtown is where you'll find fancy eateries and modernist architecture like I.M. Pei's Fountain Place and City Hall or Philip Johnson's Peace Chapel and Thanksgiving Square. Though it isn't my first choice for food (I'd highly recommend venturing to one of the neighborhoods above if time allows it), the museums are well scoped for a weekend morning, and the local hotels conveniently host bars and restaurants full of ambiance.

If you want a truly Texan experience, venture an hour west to Dallas' twin city, Fort Worth. The Stockyards are expectedly tourist-y, but also one of the more Texas-y experiences you can have in the area, which has earned itself the nickname "Cowtown". South of the Stockyards you can wander through the free Fort Worth Water Gardens and then hit up one of the many adorable restaurants or bars on Magnolia street.
